O my Lord, my only shelter, whose essence knows no flaw

Yā rebb we-ḥūrmet zātə bē ʕeybat[1]

O my Lord, my only shelter, whose essence knows no flaw[1]
Let noone share the secret of the treasury of the world unseen

Grant me a heart that, when you separate from me,
is burnt and severed, cut and cut and torn and torn

Grant me a heart that sees no world but you and me
that burning, longing passion may mince and tear apart

Let there be a heart for me, broken, freed, and made anew
Let it be soft and hard alike, the softest rose, the sternest rock

Let there be a heart for me, bright and clear like daylight
that in the flame of passion may forever burn away

Let there be a heart for me, scorching in eternity
that is like a spring cloud, weeping in eternity

O my Lord, my only shelter, whose essence knows no flaw
Let noone share the secret of the treasury of the world unseen

Let there be a heart for me that may be pleasing for you
a lover's heart, a lunatic's, insane and wild and free

O my Lord, my only shelter, whose essence knows no flaw
Let noone share the secret of the treasury of the world unseen

[1] As this beautiful poem is composed in Kurdish, a language unknown to me save for through its linguistic and cultural relatives of Persian and Arabic as well as the shared, wider context and conceptual language of Ṣūfism, and doubly so, in either Xwārīn (e.g. Southern Kurdish) or Hewrāmī with a complex history of transmission, ChatGPT was perused to provide glosses for the words and grammar unfamiliar to me. Scathing criticism, if deserved, by actual speakers of Kurdish is welcomed.

This present translation is primarily literal, only deviating therefrom when implicit, contextual meaning would be lost in translation into an implicitly dualistic, Christian, and English context.
