ﻭَﻟَﻢ ﺃَﻧَﻞ ﻓَﺮَﺟﺎً ﻣِﻤّﺎ ﺃُﻗﺎﺳﻴﻪِ
ﻧﺎﺩَﻳﺖُ ﻗَﻠﺒﻲ ﺑِﺤُﺰﻥٍ ﺛُﻢَّ ﻗُﻠﺖُ ﻟَﻪُ
ﻳﺎ ﻣَﻦ ﻳُﺒﻻﻲ ﺣَﺒﻴﺒﺎً ﻻ ﻳُﺒﻻﻴﻪِ
ﻫَﺬﺍ ﺍﻟَّﺬﻱ ﻛُﻨﺖَ ﺗَﻬﻮﺍﻩُ ﻭَﺗَﻤﻨَﺤَﻪُ
ﺻَﻔﻮَ ﺍﻟﻤَﻮَﺩَّﺓِ ﻗَﺪ ﻏﺎﻟَﺖ ﺩَﻭﺍﻫﻴﻪِ
ﻓَﺮَﺩَّ ﻗَﻠﺒﻲ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻃَﺮﻓﻲ ﺑِﺤُﺮﻗَﺘِﻪِ
ﻫَﺬﺍ ﺍﻟﺒَﻼءُ ﺍﻟَّﺬﻱ ﺩَﻟَّﻴﺘَﻨﻲ ﻓﻴﻪِ
ﺃَﺭﻫَﻘﺘَﻨﻲ ﻓﻲ ﻫَﻮﻯ ﻣَﻦ ﻟَﻴﺲَ ﻳُﻨﺼِﻔُﻨﻲ

If I died because of you while my heart would remain,
when no joy shall replace the sadness of your pain,
in sorrow, then I would call upon my woeful heart and shout:
Woe upon you that pines away for one whom does not heed you!
That is indeed how you would love and grant me
your sincerest of affections that has deprived me of my wit
And so my heart returns your glance aflame that burns it
for such is the affliction you have drawn me into
I waste away in longing for you that does not do me justice
for you that remains in the waterless desert of vanity and pride
